TELL ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF

I started my first Personal Training business when I was 17, coaching 1-on-1 female clients out of my college gym to pay my way through university. I studied business & finance in university and went on to work in investment banking for two years. Fitness and athleticism has always been a huge part of my life, so when I found myself moving over to Australia 4 years ago I chose to pursue my passion in that industry, and leave my time in finance behind. I haven’t looked back since!

    WHY DO YOU TRAIN?

I train because I love it! It makes me a stronger, kinder, happier and more resilient person. Training has shown me the beauty of my body and the huge (lifelong) benefits of small efforts repeated day-in and day-out.

Ultimately, I train to be strong & fit & capable for my family. I want to be able to run, hike, climb, travel and pick up my grandchildren well into old age. My fitness helps to make that possible.

    WHY DO YOU COACH?

Being able to change the way someone thinks about their body is why I coach. There is no better feeling in the world than witnessing someone (who initially had nothing nice to say about themselves), blossom into this beautiful ray of confidence, self respect and pride. I pinch myself that I get to call this “work” every day!

    WHAT IS YOUR TRAINING PHILOSOPHY?

Move well. Understand your body. Keep it simple. Control the ego.

So much can come from hard work, efficiency and simplicity in movement and a solid, positive mind that’s eager to learn and grow.

    FAVOURITE WORKOUT TRACK?

My go-to “pump” up song when I’m lifting (and terrified of the weight on the bar) is Points of Authority/99 problems - Jay Z & Lincoln Park.

    FAVOURITE QUOTE?

“In any given moment we have two options: to step forward into growth or to step back into safety.” Abraham Maslow

TELL ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF

Growing up playing softball and waterpolo I’ve always excelled in a team environment. Whilst at university for a Bachelor of Media Studies I went down the cardio gym class path and ended up with a variety of injuries. Enter strength training, it made sense – how can I ask my body to work hard if I don’t let it be the strongest it can be?

I loved it so much I became a coach at the gym I attended. I'm in an exciting place now, I've got a mission to learn and grow as much as I can as a coach whilst helping others do the same.

    WHY DO YOU TRAIN?

Training for me has made me feel strong, capable and able to take on anything. When I’m able to channel all my energy into a lift or workout there is a huge sense of satisfaction, regardless of how my day/week/month is going. It’s therapy, only cheaper.

    WHY DO YOU COACH?

As a coach I get to interact with a variety of people all wanting to achieve more and maybe even prove themselves wrong about their perceived abilities. And I get to do it everyday, to celebrate every tiny victory and connect with human beings.

    WHAT IS YOUR TRAINING PHILOSOPHY?

I’ve adopted my philosophy from Julien Pineau (a coach and movement specialist) “move safer, better and stronger”. We all want to move well and pain free into our old age. That means starting when we’re young, laying strong foundations to help support us when life throws us a curve ball.

    FAVOURITE WORKOUT TRACK?

“Till I Collapse” – Eminem & Nate Dogg.

    FAVOURITE QUOTE?

“Your effect on others is the most valuable currency we have.” Jim Carrey

TELL ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF

I first got under a barbell 5 years ago and it was love at first lift! It prompted me to give up my 8 year long career in Finance to become a Personal Trainer and Crossfit coach and I now I couldn’t imagine doing anything else!

    WHY DO YOU TRAIN?

    So many reasons!

Training has taught me so much about my body and what I am truly capable of, and I love pushing the limits of what I can achieve mentally as well as physically.

I love lifting heavy weights and grinding through tough workouts but at the end of the day, it’s all about keeping my body strong and resilient so I can live a long, happy life. I’m just training to be harder to kill.

    WHY DO YOU COACH?

I have gained so much respect and appreciation for my body and so much confidence from training that has transferred directly into every other facet of my life.

My goal is to help empower other women, and help them to find the same confidence and appreciation for their bodies as I have.

    WHAT IS YOUR TRAINING PHILOSOPHY?

Prioritise moving well, expose yourself to as many different movement patterns as possible, train across a range of different intensities, remember that everything should lead back to your “why”, and make sure you’re having fun!

    FAVOURITE WORKOUT TRACK?

Anything Ministry of Sound from 2008-2010 for cardio, and something a bit more gangsta to make me feel like a bad-ass when I’m lifting weights!

    FAVOURITE QUOTE?

“Difficult is not bad, difficult is not impossible. Difficult is just difficult, and you can do difficult things”

“Your emotions will be controlled by one of two things: circumstances or character. Focus on developing your character and your circumstances won’t matter.”

TELL ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF

Growing up I have always been competitive and athletically driven. I competed national level for swimming and state level for basketball and touch football throughout school. When I was 19 I decided I want to start training with a trainer and 12 months later I was so obsessed with weight training I decided I need a career change from make up to personal training.

Over the last seven years I have competed in two body building shows figure division, placing third in both. I started crossfit and weight lifting and am now qualified to coach both as well as being a personal trainer.

    WHY DO YOU TRAIN?

Because it makes me happy! Training has taught me a lot, How to be patient, committed, understanding, driven, focused and most of all confident. I can safely say it has helped me become a stronger and happier person inside and out. I like pushing my body and my mind to its limits, seeing what it's capable of and then going back the next day and trying again.

    WHY DO YOU COACH?

Because when you get to witness someone achieve something they never thought they could do and the joy that brings them, there is no better feeling in the world. I want to help people believe in their own capabilities and then smash them.

    WHAT IS YOUR TRAINING PHILOSOPHY?

Move well before you move heavy and invest in it. Show up and do the work. Don't expect perfect movement without practice.

    FAVOURITE WORKOUT TRACK?

When I'm going for heavy lift - Rob Bailey & The Hustle Standard ft Busta Rhymes - BEAST, or Eminem - till I collapse

    FAVOURITE QUOTE?

"It is better to cross the line and face the consequences than to just stare at the line your whole beautiful life." - Me

TELL ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF

I first started powerlifting 3 years ago, I thought it would be cool to see how strong I could get but didn’t really have any intention of pursuing it long term, at the time I was also working in early education like I had been for the last 7 or so years.

Fast forward those 3 years to now and I’m a qualified strength coach and personal trainer as well as a nationally recognised powerlifting athlete and couldn’t think of anything else I’d rather be doing!

    WHY DO YOU TRAIN?

Training is my happy place. I train because it makes me feel strong and capable, I’ve learned a lot about myself through my training and have accomplished more than I thought possible.

    WHY DO YOU COACH?

I coach because I want to help others fee the way I fee when I train. I want to help people feel strong and confident and show them that they can do absolutely anything that they set their mind to.

    WHAT IS YOUR TRAINING PHILOSOPHY?

Training is a choice, show up to each session and give it your absolute all because the only person you’re taking away from is yourself.

    FAVOURITE WORKOUT TRACK?

There’s one song in particular that whenever I hear I instantly go into 1RM mode, doesn’t matter where I am as soon as I hear ‘ Us Against the World (da tweekaz remix) Darren Styles’ I’m ready to max out!

    FAVOURITE QUOTE?

“Never discourage anyone who continually makes progress, no matter how slow. – Plato
